Meet Dr. Julia Sopira, DC

Dr. Julia Sopira, Doctor of Chiropractic, is a neurologically based chiropractor at Graceful Pompano Beach Chiropractic, serving individuals and families throughout Pompano Beach, Florida. She is known for her calm, educational approach and her ability to explain complex concepts in a way that feels clear and reassuring. As a chiropractor in Pompano Beach, FL, Dr. Sopira focuses on gentle, non-invasive care that supports nervous system function, with a special emphasis on pediatric and perinatal chiropractic care. Her goal is to help patients feel informed, confident, and supported at every stage of care.

Credentials & Education

Dr. Sopira’s educational path reflects a strong foundation in science, movement, and hands-on clinical care.

She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree at Life University in Georgia, where she received extensive training in neurologically based chiropractic care. Prior to chiropractic school, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from William Paterson University in New Jersey, after completing two years of undergraduate biology coursework at a community college in New Jersey. Her academic background, combined with hands-on clinical training, allows her to approach care with both structure and adaptability.

Experience & Expertise

Dr. Sopira’s clinical focus is centered on pediatric and perinatal chiropractic care, along with nervous system–based wellness for families. During her preceptorship and early clinical experience, she worked closely with infants, children, and parents seeking care for concerns such as latching difficulties, head rotation preference, tension patterns, sleep challenges, colic-like symptoms, and general nervous system dysregulation.

She also has experience working with pregnant women seeking support for low back discomfort, pelvic and ligament tension, nausea, numbness or tingling in the hands, and overall nervous system regulation throughout pregnancy. Her approach emphasizes gentle assessment, clear communication, and individualized care planning.

Philosophy & Approach

Dr. Sopira practices with the belief that the nervous system is the foundation of health. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, her care is designed to identify and reduce interference within the nervous system so the body can adapt and function more efficiently.

She takes time to listen carefully, explain findings in plain language, and involve patients in care decisions. Dr. Sopira is especially passionate about helping parents navigate overwhelming and often conflicting health information. She views her role as a trusted guide—filtering information, providing clarity, and helping families feel confident in natural, supportive healthcare choices.

Personal Story

Where She Grew Up & Family Background
Dr. Sopira grew up in New Jersey in a close-knit family. She was raised by her mother alongside her sister, and despite her parents divorcing when she was young, she remained deeply connected to her extended family. She spent significant time with her grandparents, who played a major role in her upbringing, and shared close relationships with cousins, aunts, and uncles. Summers were often spent at the Jersey Shore, surrounded by family, animals, and outdoor life.

Sports & Activities Growing Up
From a very young age, Dr. Sopira was a competitive dancer, beginning with “mommy-and-me” classes and continuing through age 18. Dance was a major part of her life throughout childhood and high school, including attending a vocational high school where she studied dance for half of each school day. While dance brought discipline and passion, it also placed significant physical demands on her body.

What Made Her Choose Chiropractic

Years of intensive dance led Dr. Sopira to experience chronic pain and injuries at a young age. In middle school, she developed severe knee swelling that left her on crutches and facing conversations about surgery and casting. A close family friend—who is a chiropractor—encouraged her mother to seek chiropractic care instead.

That experience changed the course of her recovery and reshaped how she understood the body’s ability to heal. While she always knew she wanted to work in healthcare, chiropractic aligned with her holistic upbringing and her concerns about conventional healthcare systems. After shadowing chiropractors and exploring different paths during her biology studies, she committed to chiropractic as a profession that matched both her values and lived experience.

Chiropractic Techniques

Dr. Sopira utilizes gentle, neurologically focused techniques designed to support nervous system regulation and adaptability.

  • Neurologically Based Chiropractic Adjustments – Gentle, precise contacts aimed at reducing spinal and cranial tension while improving nervous system communication.
  • Network Spinal Care – A light-touch technique combined with breathing awareness to help the body release stored stress patterns and improve regulation.
  • Gentle Pediatric Adjusting – Extremely light, age-appropriate techniques used with infants and children, applying only enough pressure to move the skin.
  • Cranial & Craniosacral-Informed Techniques – Subtle approaches addressing head and neck tension patterns often associated with birth stress.
  • Motion Palpation & Functional Assessment – Hands-on evaluation of spinal motion used to guide individualized care planning.
  • Patient & Parent Education – Clear explanations and guidance to help families feel confident between visits and in everyday life.

What She Enjoys Most About Being a Chiropractor

What Dr. Sopira enjoys most about being a chiropractor is teaching and educating patients, especially parents. She is passionate about helping families cut through overwhelming and conflicting health information and understand how the nervous system influences overall health and development.

She values being a trusted voice—someone patients can rely on for clarity, reassurance, and hope. For Dr. Sopira, chiropractic is not just about addressing discomfort, but about empowering people with knowledge so they feel confident in their bodies and their healthcare decisions.
